OVERVIEW:
This role reports to the VP Corporate Controller and is responsible for leading technical accounting research and preparing high-quality documentation to support the company's accounting positions. The individual will own the maintenance and ongoing enhancement of accounting policies, ensuring alignment with evolving standards and best practices. Additionally, they will manage the preparation and review of SEC filings and other external financial reports in compliance with U.S. GAAP and regulatory requirements.
While this is an individual contributor position, it requires close collaboration with cross-functional partners throughout the finance organization, including controllership, FP&A, and investor relations. The role also plays a critical part in the adoption and implementation of new accounting standards, serving as a subject matter expert and advisor to internal stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES | ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
+ Lead the preparation of the company’s external financial statements, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K, along with related footnote disclosures and MD&A, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations.
+ Research, analyze, and document complex and non-routine accounting issues (e.g., business combinations, revenue recognition, leases, equity compensation), preparing clear and defensible technical accounting memoranda.
+ Monitor and assess the impact of new and evolving accounting standards; coordinate cross-functional efforts to implement new guidance effectively and in a timely manner.
+ Maintain and continuously improve the company’s global accounting policies, ensuring alignment with current standards and consistency in application across business units.
+ Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to business and finance partners across the organization on technical accounting matters and transaction structuring.
+ Coordinate with external auditors, including the preparation of supporting documentation and responses to audit inquiries related to technical areas and SEC filings.
+ Support the quarterly and annual financial close process by providing guidance on complex accounting issues and ensuring appropriate financial disclosures.
+ Participate in key strategic initiatives such as M&A transactions, capital markets activities, and other corporate finance projects, providing technical accounting and reporting expertise.
+ Contribute to the enhancement of internal control processes, with a focus on automation, standardization, and compliance with SOX requirements.
+ Collaborate closely with teams across controllership, FP&A, treasury, tax, and investor relations to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting and disclosures.
KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES:
+ Detailed knowledge of US GAAP standards and SEC reporting, financial statements, internal controls and SOX requirements
+ Detail-oriented with high degree of accuracy
+ Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to clearly and concisely communicate accounting and reporting topics to finance and non-finance colleagues
+ Ability to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
+ Experience with one or more large, integrated financial management/accounting systems, such as Oracle, SAP, or JD Edwards is preferred
+ Advanced knowledge of accounting processes and techniques
EXPERIENCE | QUALIFICATIONS:
+ BS Accounting
+ 7+ years of progressive public accounting or public company experience required, preferably in a manufacturing or service industry.
+ Big 4 public accounting experience preferred
+ CPA required
