We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Software Engineer to join our Data Engineering team. This role is responsible for leading the efforts in test and test automation, designing, developing, and automating enterprise-level operational data systems and analytic data marts. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a passion for delivering high-quality data solutions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Develop customized coding, software integration, perform analysis, configure solutions, using tools specific to the project or the area.
2. Lead and participate in the development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support of highly complex solutions in adherence to company standards, including robust unit testing and support for subsequent release testing.
3. Build non-functional monitoring capabilities and provide escalated support for highly complex applications in production.
4. Build in and maintain security controls and monitoring in support of company standards.
5. Typically lead moderately complex projects and participate in larger, more complex initiatives.
6. Solve complex technical and operational problems. Act as a resource for teammates with less experience
7. May oversee the work of a small team.
8. In an Agile environment: Responsible for delivering high quality working software and automating manual/reusable tasks working directly, and engage with, the business from the beginning of the design work. Leverage continuous engineering practices to deliver business value regarding effectiveness of the design. Actively participate in refining user stories. Responsible for design, developing, and maintaining automated unit testing, and supporting integration and functional testing. Responsible for providing automated monitoring capabilities, providing warranty support, and providing knowledge transfer to production support. Develop code in accordance with the acceptance criteria established by the Product Owner.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Lead and execute functional, integration, regression, and performance testing for data processes using industry-standard tools and technologies.
+ Gather, analyze, and document functional and technical requirements, ensuring stakeholder alignment through effective communication and engagement.
+ Design, develop, and enhance operational reporting and analytic data solutions in accordance with established frameworks and best practices.
+ Develop and implement scalable, cloud-based data processing solutions.
+ Maintain deep knowledge of application features and capabilities to support solution design and troubleshooting.
+ Ensure solutions align with business requirements, architectural standards, and the broader technology ecosystem.
+ Deliver high-quality business intelligence solutions on time and within scope.
+ Collaborate with DBAs to support production environments and optimize system performance.
+ Design, develop, and maintain automated unit tests; support integration and functional testing efforts.
+ Implement automated monitoring and provide warranty support and knowledge transfer to production support teams.
+ Develop code that meets acceptance criteria defined by the Product Owner.
+ Actively contribute to technical discussions and decision-making in a collaborative team environment.
+ Maintain and improve documentation and procedures throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
+ Provide subject matter expertise across multiple concurrent projects and throughout all development phases.
+ Manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree and six to ten years of experience or equivalent education and software engineering training or experience
2. In-depth knowledge in information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement best practices
3. Understanding of key business processes and competitive strategies related to the IT function
4. Ability to plan and manage projects and solve complex problems by applying best practices
5. Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates. Ability to interpret and convey complex, difficult, or sensitive information
Preferred Qualifications
+ **3+ years** of experience leading and contributing to the development, testing, and support of complex operational data systems, data warehouses, and ETL solutions.
+ **5+ years** of experience in database and data warehouse design and development.
+ **3+ years** of experience in designing and implementing automated testing for data processes.
+ **5+ years** of advanced SQL development, performance tuning, and troubleshooting (MS SQL Server preferred).
+ **5+ years** of advanced ETL development experience (MS SSIS preferred).
+ Strong understanding of data warehouse design principles, particularly the Kimball methodology.
+ Proficiency in object-oriented programming (OOP) methodologies.
+ Strong development skills in Python, .NET/C#, or other OOP languages.
+ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to document complex processes and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
+ Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
+ Quick learner with the ability to adopt new technologies and deliver cost-effective solutions.
+ Experience with cloud-based data development (AWS preferred).
+ Familiarity with version control tools such as TFS, GitHub, or GitLab.
+ Experience working in Agile development environments.
+ Proficiency in report development using tools such as MS SSRS, Power BI, or other leading BI platforms.
+ Experience mentoring and coaching junior developers to support their technical growth.
The annual base salary for this position is $100000 - $150000. The starting hourly wage for this position is N/A.
