FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Nutrition and Public Health at Hunter College, City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for an Open Rank (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor) full time, tenure track/tenured position in nutrition, lifestyle, and cancer prevention and outcomes. This position is a strategic expansion of our faculty to support the partnership made possible through the NCI U54 grant, a partnership between Hunter College and Temple University, aimed at addressing cancer health disparities in minority and underserved populations through nutrition and lifestyle interventions.
We seek a highly motivated researcher and educator with a strong background in biological, clinical or translational cancer nutrition research, with a focus on cancer prevention and survivorship in either adult or pediatric populations. We welcome candidates whose research includes molecular mechanisms of cancer related to nutrition and lifestyle, including those with expertise in biochemistry, and molecular oncology. The successful candidate will contribute to advancing cancer health equity through research, education, and community engagement, aligning with the goals of the U54 grant.
Responsibilities
+ Develop and maintain an externally funded research program in nutrition and cancer prevention/treatment outcomes, with an emphasis on cancer health disparities.
+ Engage in collaborative, transdisciplinary research, including participation in the Hunter College-Temple University U54 Cancer-Nutrition Partnership.
+ Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in nutrition, public health, and cancer related topics.
+ Mentor and supervise graduate and undergraduate students in research projects.
+ Contribute to the development of community-based and translational interventions addressing cancer prevention and survivorship in diverse populations.
+ Participate in departmental and college service activities, including support for Hunter College’s ACEND-accredited nutrition and dietetics programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
+ Earned doctoral degree in Nutrition, or closely related field (e.g., Nutritional Epidemiology, Oncology Nutrition, Cancer Prevention, or Public Health).
+ Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and Board-Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO).
+ Demonstrated expertise in nutrition and cancer prevention, survivorship, and/or treatment-related outcomes and/or molecular cancer research, with additional training in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related areas.
+ Evidence of successful academic research, external funding, and publication history in relevant disciplines or potential to develop a research program and mentor/supervise graduate and undergraduate students.
+ University-level teaching experience (in-person and online) and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching, as well as the ability to collaboratively work in multidisciplinary settings.
+ Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience with large-scale cohort studies, intervention trials, or biomarker-based research in nutrition and cancer.
+ Experience in multidisciplinary collaboration with oncologists, epidemiologists, behavioral scientists, and community health experts.
+ Background in biomarkers, gene-diet interactions, or diet-chemotherapy interactions, additional expertise in the molecular or biochemical basis of cancer prevention or progression is also desirable
COMPENSATION
Compensation is commensurate with experience:
Assistant Professor, $79,598 – $99,532
Associate Professor, $100,329 – $117,805
Professor, $119,995 – $141,858

**CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will increase by approximately 9.54% with an additional increase of 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
