**Title:** ERC Regulatory Certification Engineer II (Safety)
Position Summary:
As an ERC Regulatory Certification Engineer II, you will play a critical role in developing and optimizing Smoke Box research and validation test systems to support Resideo’s Safety product testing, validation, and certification activities. This role involves hands-on product testing, data acquisition, trend tracking, and compliance validation to ensure regulatory compliance and support New Product Introduction (NPI).
You will also support the enhancement and optimization of Smoke Box test data acquisition systems and lead the development of a new test lab software control system with automated data acquisition and analytics. This includes designing efficient data collection processes, implementing automated test data pipelines, and developing analytics tools to improve test efficiency, accuracy, data verification, and compliance reporting.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Develop, manage, and refine test data acquisition systems to support Safety product research, validation, and certification activities.
+ Lead the development and implementation of automated data acquisition pipelines to improve test efficiency, data integrity and verification, and compliance reporting.
+ Design, enhance, and maintain a new test lab software control system with integrated data analytics and real-time monitoring capabilities.
+ Optimize data collection methodologies and integrate automated reporting solutions to improve accuracy, correlation, and efficiency in test documentation.
+ Develop and implement data processing tools and dashboards for test tracking, results analysis, and regulatory compliance validation.
+ Ensure Lab Management System (LMS) document control and compliance with ISO 17025 requirements through periodic internal audits and participation in management review meetings as needed.
+ Support Safety Engineering teams by providing data-driven insights to inform Value Engineering, Cost Engineering, and New Product Introduction (NPI) decisions.
+ Collaborate cross-functionally with firmware, SQA, and data engineering teams to enhance test methodologies and align with industry standards.
Must Have:
+ 3+ years of experience in test systems development and data management supporting product R&D, validation & certification efforts.
+ Proficient in data collection, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), statistical and qualitative analysis, and database management to support the advancement of test methodologies, test results validation, and streamlining of R&D processes, data management, and reporting.
+ Strong analytical skills with proficiency in programming of test data management systems using various programming languages such as Python, SQL, R, Java, and JavaScript for data monitoring, processing, statistical analysis, and trend tracking.
+ Experience developing and optimizing test data acquisition systems and verification tools to improve efficiency and accuracy.
+ Ability to work cross-functionally with firmware, SQA, and data engineering teams to enhance testing processes and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

+ Knowledgeable in Safety products Regulatory and Agency requirements for national and international standards (UL/ULC/EN Standards).
+ Excellent written communication skills to create clear, concise, and comprehensive reports, ensuring all relevant information is accurately documented throughout testing and certification processes.
+ Analytical mindset to carefully evaluate test results, identify key discrepancies, and ensure compliance with applicable national and international standards.
+ Experience with digital and analog electronics testing, electromechanical testing using automated and manual test equipment and methods.
+ Ability to use soldering equipment and related tools for repairing or assembling electronics.
+ Ability to interpret engineering drawings and identify necessary design changes to ensure regulatory compliance.
+ Ability to work independently.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
+ May be regularly required to stand, bend, crouch, and climb ladders and steps to access specially mounted test devices / equipment.
+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
+ Frequent exposure to repetitive and loud noises in a controlled lab environment.
+ Strict daily attention and adherence to safety protocols and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required due to generation of controlled fires and exposure to smoke and CO generating materials, as well as proper handling of measuring equipment and ionization smoke alarms containing sealed radioactive sources (AM-241).
