Junior Database Developer

Description RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work with product owners & the development team to translate comprehensive business requirements into effective, high-performance databases
• Model, design, develop, and deploy database solutions supporting company initiatives
• Optimize existing processes, review top resource-intensive queries, and suggest ways to improve performance
• Design and prepare migration processes between data models and environments
• Assist in implementation and management of database security
• Maintain and contribute to product and change management documentation
• Conduct SQL Server lunch-and-learn sessions and participate in other training initiatives for application developers and users
• Research, evaluate, and recommend new tools, database designs, and processes surrounding data management
• Respond to ad hoc requests for database support or tasks
• Participate in multiple projects running simultaneously and manage evolving timelines
• On-call troubleshooting for SQL Server issues and service outages
QUALIFICATIONS
• Working presence in the DC or Chicago metro areas
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred (Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or other technical degree desired but equivalent experience may be considered)
• Professional experience as a database administrator, database developer, or data architect utilizing Microsoft SQL Server
• Thorough knowledge of database design principles (usability, extensibility, data integrity, performance, availability, and security)
• Extensive familiarity with writing and improving SQL Server T-SQL queries
• Experience with both OLAP and OLTP systems, and knowledge of best practices within each
• Experience with source control (git) desired
• Familiarity with Entity Framework preferred
• Experience working with multi-tenant database applications desired
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and provide technical guidance as needed
• Quick adaptability in an existing, complex environment
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Be able to meet deadlines in a fast paced and dynamic environment
• Be a self-motivated, results-driven, and detail-oriented member of the team
