    Job Summary

    The MVHS Cancer Program is seeking a Radiation Oncologist to join our team of highly skilled medical professionals. The successful candidate is responsible for diagnosing and treating cancer patients using radiation therapy. MVHS is dedicated to supporting our physicians and Advanced Practice Providers, enabling them to deliver premier healthcare to our region. The MVHS Cancer Program is a comprehensive cancer center accredited by the College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and by the American College of Radiology. The Radiation Oncologist works closely with our Medical Oncologists, Surgeons, and other clinical specialists setting the standard for excellence in cancer care and services. Within the MVHS Cancer Program, our physicians, nurses, therapists, counselors and support groups provide for our patients physical, social and psychological well-being. In addition to Radiation Therapy, our cancer program offers Thoracic Oncology, Lung Cancer Screening, Outpatient Infusion, Surgery, Inpatient Oncology care, Hormone therapy and DIBH and a Support Group. The Cancer Center is nationally accredited by the Commission on Cancer and we take pride in providing comprehensive quality care.

     

    Job Highlights

    Education/Experience Requirements

    REQUIRED:

    + Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) and successful completion of a residency and internship.

    + Experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty.

    + Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.

    + Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.

    + Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise.

    + Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise.

    + Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage.

    + Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.

    + Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise.

    + Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

    + Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.

    + Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.

    + Effective verbal and written communication skills.

     

    Licensure/Certification Requirements

    REQUIRED:

    + Current NYS Certification/Licensure

    + Federal DEA Certification

    + Board certified or Board Eligible in Specified Area of Medical Specialty, Medical Specialty License or Certification if applicable
