The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Job Overview:
Responsible for participating in the coordination of patient care throughout the transplant process, including the ongoing assessment and evaluation of patients preparing for and undergoing bone marrow transplant (BMT) or Immune Effector Cell (IEC) therapy. The coordinator will follow all transplant/IEC patients post-transplant for survival and related post-transplant toxicities & needs. The coordinator will be responsible for screening and educating potential and current donors.
Qualifications:
Required:
+ Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree
+ Successfully obtain BMTCN/TCTCN within a few months of start date.
+ Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (Office, Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
+ Successful completion of orientation programs
Preferred:
+ Bone Marrow Transplant Experience
Certifications and Licenses Required:
+ Bone Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse (BMTCN ) Certification within 1 year of start date
Scheduling Requirements:
+ Working Shift: Monday-Friday 8a-4p / 9a-5p
+ Day Shift
+ Full-Time, 37.5 Hours Per Week
Essential Functions:
+ Facilitate Patient CareCoordinate daily interactions with patients, families, physicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and discharge planners to ensure seamless transplant and IEC therapy processes
+ Collaborate with External EntitiesWork closely with community physicians, home health agencies, insurance case managers, and laboratory personnel to maintain a successful continuum of care
+ Schedule & Coordinate TreatmentManage patient appointments, donor searches, pre-treatment testing, and eligibility evaluations to support transplant and IEC therapy planning
+ Ensure Financial & Contract ComplianceWork with the Financial Coordinator to secure insurance authorizations and maintain compliance with transplant/cellular therapy contract requirements
+ Educate & Advocate for PatientsProvide comprehensive education to patients, families, and donors on transplantation and IEC therapies while ensuring informed consent documentation
+ Support Research & Clinical TrialsAssist with enrolling patients in clinical trials, comply with regulatory reporting requirements (FACT, CIBMTR, NMDP, IRB), and facilitate research data collection
+ Maintain Communication & DocumentationEnsure accurate medical record documentation, update referring physicians and third-party payors, and log informed consents in OnCore
+ Participate in Multidisciplinary MeetingsEngage in BMT conferences, financial follow-ups, and quality meetings to support ongoing program improvements
+ Ensure Regulatory ComplianceStay updated on policies and procedures from RWJUH, Rutgers Cancer Institute, and relevant agencies while maintaining training and certifications
+ Promote Teamwork & Quality ImprovementFoster collaboration across departments, support new coordinator training, and contribute to process enhancements for patient satisfaction and workflow efficiency
