    Job Title: Controls Engineer – Virtual Attraction Controls Emulation (VACE)Overview:

    We’re seeking a talented Controls Engineer to support our Virtual Attraction Controls Emulation (VACE) team. This position will serve as a backfill for our Lead Engineer, who may be temporarily assigned to a large-scale project. The ideal candidate brings a unique mix of controls programming and software development and is passionate about immersive experiences like theme park attractions and ride systems.

     

    This role involves hands-on work with digital twin technology, virtual commissioning, and real-time attraction simulation, blending industrial automation with cutting-edge interactive software.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Develop and support virtual commissioning environments for dark rides and rollercoasters

    + Work within Unity and middleware platforms to connect digital twin simulations to PLC systems

    + Read and interpret ladder logic, model system behavior, and perform real-time integration testing

    + Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to translate ride concepts into functional virtual models

    + Contribute to the design, testing, and refinement of control systems and simulation environments

    + Work with tools from Rockwell (simulated PLCs), Siemens (Sim Advance), and other platforms to develop test benches

    + Support software modeling assumptions and validate simulation behavior with control systems logic

    Required Skills & Technologies:

    + Controls Programming (PLC; ladder logic)

    + Software Development (C#, Unity)

    + Digital Twin Development

    + Industrial Automation & Virtual Commissioning

    + Python (for data transformation tasks)

    + Experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens platforms

    Preferred Experience:

    + 5–10 years in controls engineering, preferably with exposure to both hardware and immersive software systems

    + Experience in the theme park industry or related immersive environments

    + Familiarity with attraction commissioning (e.g., rides like Kong or Fast & the Furious is a plus)

    + Game development experience is highly valuable—particularly if paired with automation and PLC integration

    Ideal Candidate Profile:

    + Curious, sharp, and passionate about building the future of experiential attractions

    + Able to self-perform and adapt to evolving project requirements

    + Comfortable working at the intersection of mechanical systems and software modeling

    + Thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced development environment

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $53.00 - $58.00/hr.
