    Now Hiring: Industrial Refrigeration Technician

    Job Description

    As a Refrigeration Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of refrigeration systems essential for daily production. Your primary responsibilities will include starting and operating refrigeration compressors and blast freezers, evaluating operating parameters, and making necessary adjustments to optimize performance.

    Responsibilities

    + Start and operate required refrigeration compressors for daily production.

    + Start and operate required blast freezers for daily production.

    + Evaluate operating parameters of refrigeration plant and make adjustments as needed.

    + Operate, monitor, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair refrigeration equipment and all associated valves, piping, and instrumentation.

    + Read electrical diagrams, evaluate, troubleshoot, and solve electrical problems.

    + Document plant operational activities in the Engine Room Log Book and note equipment operational parameters on equipment log sheets.

    + Monitor and maintain Refrigeration Systems.

    + Perform periodic tests of Ammonia Detection Alarm System.

    + Read and interpret technical literature, drawings, prints, and diagrams needed to better operate and/or troubleshoot equipment.

    + Request materials and supplies necessary to perform duties and receive and store supplies.

    + Monitor water chemistry of evaporative condenser units and adjust chemical feeds to meet optimum operational limits.

    + Coordinate and assist outside contractors performing services to the refrigeration system equipment.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience in Programmable Logic Controls (PLCs)

    + Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams

    + Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

    + Basic math skills

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Ammonia certification or experience is a plus

    + High school diploma

    + Knowledge of refrigeration, HVAC, air conditioning, compressors, boilers, valves, piping, and preventive maintenance

    Work Environment

     

    The work environment in the plant will expose you to loud noise, food-grade dust and odors, moving and vibrating machinery, heavy equipment, powered industrial trucks, heights, traffic, anhydrous ammonia, oil, and electricity. You may also encounter adverse weather conditions, including extreme cold, heat, rain, snow, dust, smoke, and odors. Allergens found inside the plant include fish, shellfish, nuts, eggs, wheat, soy, milk, and coconut. You will be working in cold storage, primarily during the night shift, but will train on days for 3-6 months.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, Virginia.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
