    Job Title: Machinist

    Job Description

    The role involves machining parts for equipment used in the mining industry. Candidates will utilize their skills to read and understand blueprints and drawings to manufacture parts according to specifications.

    Responsibilities

    + Set up and edit CNC machine programs, milling machines, and lathes using the proper equipment to ensure correct machine operations.

    + Perform daily maintenance of CNC and manual machinery.

    + Read, interpret, and follow standard operation procedures for a consistent manufacturing approach.

    + Hold prescribed tolerances using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

    + Understand and utilize programming software for CNC machines.

    Essential Skills

    + Two years of experience in a machining role within a production environment.

    + Proficiency in using measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.

    + Demonstrated experience in setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines, mills, and lathes.

    + Knowledge of working properties of different metals and alloys and the proper cutting feeds and speeds for each type.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience with Master Cam is preferred.

    + Prior experience in rigging and positioning heavy equipment using jib hoists and overhead cranes.

    + Ability to select and grind specialty tools for required tasks.

    + Experience in reading and understanding blueprints to build products.

    Work Environment

     

    The work environment is nostalgic, located in an old building with older equipment. It can be dirty at times. The position operates on the 1st shift from 6 am to 2:30 pm, Monday to Friday.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Des Moines, Iowa.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $25.00/hr.
