Position Summary
The Lincoln County Health and Human Services Department is looking to add a Medical Biller 1 to their team to help in assisting with the administration of the largest department in the County. We are looking for someone who is reliable with a strong attention to detail.
The person in this role will review medical claims, prior and subsequent to billing, to ensure accuracy and facilitate reimbursements. As well as applying bookkeeping methods to a variety of recording and auditing functions.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities
Billing and Coding:
+ Review charges prior to initial claims submission to ensure accuracy. Make corrections as needed, whether minor or major.
+ Review outpatient medical and mental health claim denials and rejections for any coding errors, correct and resubmit claims as appropriate.
+ Correct some major errors (e.g., Coding per payer billing requirements, Diagnosis ordering) identified by any Medical Biller 1. Route major errors requiring certified coder review as appropriate.
+ Research insurance eligibility status and make adjustments.
Financial:
+ Post receipts, invoices, adjustments, and payments for all clinics in electronic health record system.
+ Generate daily and monthly control reports for services and deposits.
+ Maintain client account balances and bill various accounts.
+ Prepare annual write-offs and purge financial records.
Customer Service:
+ Collect and receipt all client payments. Calculate adjustments on accounts.
+ Answer client questions regarding insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid billings.
+ Assist support staff and providers with billing questions.

Typical Qualifications
Minimum Education
High School Diploma / GED
Minimum Experience
One (1) year experience in general office work which includes fiscal record keeping or bookkeeping.
Desirable Qualifications: Bilingual and/or bicultural competencies for the Latino population preferred. Federally Qualified Health Center or Rural Health Center experience preferred.
Knowledge of:
+ Working knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices.
+ Office methods and procedure.
+ Familiarity with the use of standard office machines.
Skill or ability to:
+ Perform detailed work involving written or numerical data and to make mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately.
+ Convey information, ideas, and facts both orally and in writing to supervisors, colleagues, and individuals, inside and outside the County, using language and a format the audience will best understand.
+ Utilize computers and other technology to communicate in written and verbal forms (e.g., word processing, texts, emails, spreadsheets, department-specific software).
+ Effectively relate well with others, including supervisors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the County. Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and working to maintain constructive working relationships.
+ Take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work. Show up to work on time, and follows instructions, policies, and procedures. Meet productivity standards, deadlines, and work schedules.

Lincoln County offers a comprehensive benefit package including vacation, holiday, and sick leave as well as medical, dental, vision which is paid at 90% by the County and 10% by the employee. Other fully paid benefits include life, AD&D, long-term disability insurance. Other optional insurances are available. A 401K retirement plan is also provided. The County's current contribution rate is 11%.
Regular and Trial Service employees working between 20 - 39 hours per week on a regular basis are eligible for pro-rated employee benefits.
