Job Description
Southeastern Community College is seeking a part-time instructor to deliver non-credit industrial maintenance training for local businesses and industry partners. This hands-on teaching role focuses on mechanical systems, electrical fundamentals, preventive maintenance, and PLCs, tailored to meet employer-specific workforce development needs. This role involves instruction, curriculum delivery, and hands-on lab facilitation in a face-to-face learning environment.
The instructor will deliver flexible, high-impact training to adult learners, focusing on the practical application of skills and real-world workplace relevance. Instruction will cover key areas such as mechanical systems, machine repair, electrical systems, and preventive maintenance, and workplace safety – ensuring alignment with current industry standards. Training may be conducted on campus or on-site at employer locations, depending on the needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Teach assigned non-credit courses in industrial maintenance and safety.
+ Deliver instruction through lectures, demonstrations, and lab activities.
+ Provide hands-on training in safety, electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
+ Monitor and assess student progress and provide regular feedback.
+ Maintain classroom and lab equipment in good working condition.
+ Stay up to date with advancements in the industrial maintenance field.
+ Contribute to curriculum improvement and training material updates as needed.
Schedule & Compensation:
+ Schedule will vary based on course assignments and program needs.
+ Evening and daytime classes may be available.
+ Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Adjunct teaching contracts are subject to cancellation due to low student enrollment.

Required Qualifications
+ Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Engineering Technology, and or 3 years (6000) hours of recent and relevant work experience.
+ Professional experience in machine repair, preventive maintenance, mechanical and electrical systems, and PLC programming.
+ Relevant industry certifications are highly preferred.
+ Prior teaching or training experience in a vocational or technical setting is a plus.
+ Strong communication, instructional, and organizational skills.
+ Commitment to student success and continuous improvement in teaching practices.
+ Familiarity with instructional technology and tools.

Ability to carry and distribute class materials and ability to rearrange classroom as needed.
