    UPMC Passavant is hiring a Full Time Clinician for our 3 Main Med/Surg Stroke Unit.

     

    This position will be Evening/Night (hours 3p-11p, 11p-7a, 7p-7a)

    About the Unit:

    + 3 Main is a 34-bed Medical/Surgical/Telemetry unit.

    + Inpatient Stroke and Observation Unit.

    + NIHSS Certified nursing staff.

    + Adult patients with varied diagnoses.

     

    Purpose: The Clinician is a nurse leader responsible for promoting excellence in patient care. They serve as role models in professional nursing practice, oversee staff performance, and provide clinical expertise and education.

    Responsibilities:

    + Build positive relationships internally and externally.

    + Mentor and model uplifting communication.

    + Coach on cultural diversity, workplace violence, and impairment.

    + Demonstrate accountability for safe work hours and time management.

    + Continuously improve care quality and integrate research and best practices.

    + Share learning across units.

    + Mentor and educate colleagues and healthcare team members.

    + Actively participate as a preceptor for nursing students and new staff.

    + Incorporate professional and business unit goals to improve patient safety and satisfaction.

    + Create a compassionate patient-focused experience.

    + Apply nursing knowledge within the Relationship-Based Care framework.

    + Demonstrate critical thinking in patient care.

    + Ensure comprehensive patient documentation.

    + Identify opportunities for improvement and lead change.

    + Support staff during change and transition.

    + Practice participatory leadership and engage in shared leadership.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Experience: Minimum 3 years of nursing experience required.

    + Education: BS/BSN required. If the BS degree is not in nursing, a Master's or higher degree in Nursing is required. A Master's degree is preferred.

    + Competence: Demonstrated competence as a Professional Staff Nurse.

    Skills and Knowledge:

    + Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately with the ages of the patients served by their assigned unit, as specified below.

    + Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan.

    + Ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs.

    + Ability to provide care as described in the department policy and procedures.

    Interpersonal Skills:

    + Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families.

    + Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities, and use specialized equipment.

    Critical Thinking and Physical Requirements:

    + Exemplary clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities related to various aspects of patient care.

    + Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and lead others in the application of the nursing process.

    + Mobility, visual manual dexterity, and physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    + Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the practicing state.

    + National Certification preferred.

    + CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

    Required Certifications:

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

    + Registered Nurse (RN)

    + Act 34

     

    _Note: Current licensure is required either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state._
