Are you ready to take your nursing career to the next level? UPMC Mercy Pavilion is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN) to join our highly skilled Operating Room team—the only facility in Western Pennsylvania performing retina surgery!
This role offers daylight and evening shifts, Monday through Friday, with on-call opportunities for ophthalmic procedures after hours, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities
+ Professional Development & Engagement: Maintains accountability for growth, participates in shared governance, supports change, and enhances care quality.
+ Patient Care & Communication: Implements Relationship-Based Care, collaborates with patients to set goals, exercises critical thinking, and ensures thorough documentation for effective communication.
+ Education & Mentorship: Applies adult learning principles, educates patients and families, mentors' new staff, and fosters an environment of continuous improvement.
+ Quality Improvement & Research: Contributes to department-specific initiatives, identifies improvement opportunities, and utilizes evidence-based practices to enhance patient care.
+ Teamwork & Work-Life Balance: Builds strong relationships, respects cultural differences, models healthy work-life balance, and reports safety hazards.
+ Scrub Role: Required for RNs hired on or after July 1, 2023.
+ Additional Duties: Performs in alignment with system-wide standards and completes other assigned tasks.
+ Demonstrated ability to provide age-appropriate care and assess patient needs based on growth and development principles.
+ 0–2 years of experience; BSN preferred.
+ Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to work effectively in a complex healthcare environment, handle changing priorities, and operate specialized equipment.
+ Physical stamina required for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning patients.
+ Ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, patients, and families.
Shift Options:
+ Flexible scheduling, including night and weekend shifts with premium pay (6+ months of nursing experience required).
+ Orientation may be required during regular business hours.
Licensure & Certifications:
+ UPMC-approved national certification preferred.
+ Current RN licensure in the state or through a multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement.
+ CPR certification (AHA standards) required within 30 days of hire.
+ Graduate Nurses must take the licensure exam within 6 months of hire or 1 year of graduation.
Additional Clearances:
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
+ Registered Nurse (RN) or Temporary Practice Permit (TPP).
+ Act 34, 31, 73, 33 clearance.
