    Preferred work location is Akron, OH. This position is remote but required at times to work on-site and would need to be within a 1 hour commute of either Akron, OH; Reading, PA; or Greensburg, PA. This option is not currently available in the states of California, Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon, or Washington.

     

    An IT Application Configuration Analyst on the Geospatial Products team is responsible for enhancing, maintaining, and supporting all of FirstEnergy’s Geographic Information Systems and related integrations. This position is responsible for systems such as ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise, CYME, Feature Manipulation Engine (FME), SSP Lifecyle, SSP MIMS, and SSP Productivity. The GIS systems are foundational to support data analytics, design, engineering, outage restoration, vegetation management, and work execution for FirstEnergy across Transmission and Distribution.

    Responsibilities:

    + Manage and operate ArcGIS Enterprise including ArcPro and Portal across Geospatial Products in distribution, transmission, and vegetation management.

    + Design, configure and support integrations using FME, JSON, REST APIs, Oracle stored procedures, Python, SQL scripts, etc.

    + Constantly look for better ways of solving technical problems and improving solutions.

    + Work with business units to collect requirements and develop functional specifications.

    + Work on cross-functional teams to accomplish overall IT projects and objectives.

    + Develop unit test plans related to product enhancements, patches, or upgrades.

    + Document processes/procedures and specifications for peers.

    + Respond to 2nd/3rd level support requests that are related to GIS technologies.

    + Escalate issues and defects to third party vendors.

    + Ability to work flexible hours and be available for call-in and after-hours support (7X24 operations).

     

    An employee hired at Level III, IV or V will be expected to perform the above responsibilities with greater proficiency and in a more independent manner.

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer/Management Information Systems, Geology, a related degree, or commensurate experience.

    + Minimum 2-4 years related experience

    + Related experience includes, but not limited to, software development and integration experience with C#, C++, .Net, Python, REST API, or SQL

    + Experience supporting vendor developed enterprise system, preferably ArcGIS Enterprise or ESRI partner

    + Highly motivated to work independently and productively, but also able to effectively collaborate and build relationships in a virtual environment.

    + Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.

    + Quickly learn new concepts in information technology, learn the characteristics of new systems and update skills to adapt to changing technology.

    + Experience in the utility industry is preferred.
