The School of Social Work has an outstanding opportunity for a BASW Admissions & Recruitment Specialist to join their team.

The Office of Admissions is dedicated to building recruitment, outreach, and admissions practices that support the social justice mission of the University of Washington School of Social Work. We aim to recruit, advise, and admit students who are committed to developing and strengthening the values, knowledge and skills necessary to be effective social workers and change-makers. Under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Admissions, the BASW Admissions & Recruitment Specialist plays a vital role within the Admissions team, working in close collaboration with the MSW Recruitment Specialist to support the team's strategic recruitment goals across both the Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare (BASW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) programs. This position is responsible for development and overall implementation of a wide range of outreach and recruitment efforts to create pathways and access for a diverse population of applicants to these professional degree programs. As the lead admissions counselor for prospective BASW students, the BASW Admissions & Recruitment Specialist serves as the primary contact person for inquiries and requests for program information from both individuals and partner organizations. Key responsibilities include planning and coordinating recruitment events; advising applicants on program requirements and application processes; creating and managing social media and email marketing content; leading BASW application processing; hiring, supervising, and directing student employees; and providing project support to the Director and others within the Admissions team. The position requires someone skillful in supporting and communicating with a diverse array of people, including students, faculty, staff, University colleagues, external clients and partners. The successful candidate will be able to independently lead initiatives and projects with delegated authority, a high degree of autonomy, and with a high expectation of strategic thinking, a problem-solving orientation, and a deep commitment to equity and excellence.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Recruitment, Advising & Outreach
+ Advances multicultural outreach and recruitment, including recruitment of first-generation scholars, students of color, and traditionally underrepresented populations to the BASW and MSW Programs.
+ Establishes and strengthens relationships with community groups and broader networks to drive engagement and outreach to diverse groups.
+ Represents the School at local and national events (20+ external recruiting events), including regional and out-of-state travel, some evening and weekend work will be required.
+ Acts as an initial point of contact regarding degree programs, advises prospective students on program offerings, admission application requirements and processes, and opportunities within the field via e-mail, phone, Zoom, in-person appointments and drop-in advising.
+ Maintains up-to-date BASW advising resources, supports onboarding of team members, and communicates changes for cross-training.
+ Promotes a culture of collaboration where faculty, staff and alumni feel encouraged to partner with the Admissions Office so that they can engage with prospective students on their own, leveraging the school’s wide range of expertise and talent.
+ Act as a point person for all things related to BASW outreach and recruitment.Program Management
+ Direct and oversee implementation of virtual, on and off-campus prospective BASW student programming – including support for approximately 20+ school-sponsored information sessions/recruitment events (e.g. program information sessions/webinars and open houses).
+ Co-lead annual recruitment plan and support strategy for all parts of BASW outreach, including recruitment goals and targets.
+ Manages all admissions related social media activities; supports scheduling and design of tailored and engaging social media content.
+ Analyze and evaluate BASW advising, outreach and recruitment activities to improve strategy; develops and maintains a prospective BASW student database for tracking inquiries, monitoring and managing data about prospective students and events.
+ Serve as BASW admissions content expert – collaborate with SSW marketing and communications team on communications and marketing strategies for BASW programs, consults with Admissions Team on the development of recruitment materials and BASW admissions web content.
+ Manages email marketing campaigns and produces communications aimed at outreach and engagement of prospective students for MSW and BASW programs
+ Joint management and supervision of admissions Graduate Student Assistants (Student Information Specialists who serve as admissions advisers/recruiters) and work study employees, including scheduling, hiring, and coordination with HR.
+ Serves as a liaison, to strengthen and/or cultivate relationships on campus, partnering with programs and resources including Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity, Ethnic Cultural Center (ECC), The Q Center, Student Veteran Life, UW Health Professions Recruitment Collaborative, and more.
+ Collaborate with MSW Recruitment Specialist on outreach and recruitment events, and SSW partners on projects relevant to broader admissions initiatives.Application Management
+ Manage all BASW admissions application processing: this includes preparation of admissions materials and systems to support implementation of admissions policy; screening and processing applications; communicating with applicants about application issues and decisions; and managing application data to develop reports to track and monitor application completion and class profiles.
+ Leads BASW admissions review processes under guidance of the Assistant Director, includes scheduling and administrative support of the BASW Admissions Committee and reviewer training, managing online scoring systems, calculating GPA, and tracking admissions decision-making.
+ Communicate all BASW admissions decisions to applicants and manage waitlist; lead notification process in consultation with BASW Program Office and UW Undergraduate Admissions. **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
+ Bachelor’s degree in social work/welfare, human services, student affairs, communications, or related field
+ Two to three years of experience developing recruitment/outreach strategy and leading initiatives, to include at least one year of higher education administration, advising/counseling, student outreach/recruitment, or providing student support services **Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.** **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**
+ Excellent customer service skills and orientation, and strong attention to detail
+ Commitment to social justice and demonstrated experience serving diverse populations
+ Experience designing, creating, and managing content on social media/communications platforms (such as Facebook/Instagram)
+ Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Canva, or other graphic design tools Skilled in Microsoft tools such as Excel, Forms, etc.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills
+ Excellent problem solving, and time management skills **DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Experience in college admissions, data-informed recruitment, or early outreach and engagement with youth in Washington and an understanding of the distinctive qualities of the UW
+ Understanding of the community college landscape in WA state
+ Knowledge of the Puget Sound region’s social services, nonprofit sector, or community-based social justice organizations; experience building partnerships with external groups and/or organizations
+ Communications/marketing -experience utilizing CRMs, developing social media/digital strategy, video editing, graphic design, etc.
+ Website editing experience, event and meeting planning experience , and/or advanced data analysis skills
+ Experience working effectively with high volumes of public contact **CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**
+ Represents the School at local and national events (20+ external recruiting events), including regional and out-of-state travel, some evening and weekend work will be required.
+ Irregular work hours may be necessary due to heavy recruitment timeframes; employee may request comp time/flex hours.
+ Hybrid telework – Min of 3 days in office
+ Compensation: $5,800-$6,200/monthly
