In April 2023, TRATON embarked on an ambitious journey to integrate independent brand Research & Development (R&D) Organizations in Scania, MAN, International, and Volkswagen Truck & Bus into a single global TRATON R&D organization.
By integrating the capabilities and resources of our brands, we will accelerate the introduction of new technologies and solutions to deliver the most competitive products and solutions to our customers.
We currently have a great opportunity for an Product Engineer – Autonomous Vehicle Integration Product Owner on our TRATON USA’s R&D Team.
Responsibilities
+ Lead a team of system engineers to define, refine and deliver functional requirements and establish operating expectations.
+ Collaborate with and lead functional safety and cybersecurity engineers to integrate safety and security into system design.
+ Gather and elicit product demands including use cases, product requirements, voice of customer, and platform demands.
+ Define architecture demands, principles, and requirements to support desired system functionality
+ Lead interpretation activities and forums concerning vehicle functional safety standards in the product definition and safety case approach:
+ ISO 26262 (functional safety for automotive).
+ ASIL (Automotive Safety Integrity Levels) classification.
+ SOTIF (ISO/PAS 21448) – Safety of the Intended Functionality.
+ Analyze dependencies and interactions in complex automotive and autonomous vehicle systems within system-of-system contexts as well as with environment.
+ Execute system development processes including the decomposition of vehicle/product requirements to identify form and function to incorporate requirements
+ Lead / participate in issue resolution activities during development, validation, and vehicle launch
+ Collaborate with program team to support program goals and develop standard processes and approaches to ensure deliverables are on-time
+ Work in a team and contribute to the continuous improvement activities through participation in Lean projects, Navistar’s design standards, process improvements etc.
+ Solve problems and implement solutions to establish/maintain/improve vehicle functionality
+ Support vehicle topology / system architecture activities
+ Serve as technical advisor and leader to the organization and technical mentor to less experienced engineers
Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
+ At least 12 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience
+ At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies
OR
+ Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
+ At least 8 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience
+ At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies
OR
+ PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
+ At least 5 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies or specialized technologies and/or computer science experience
+ At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies
Additional Requirements
+ Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. We do not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
Desired Skills
+ Safety Certification from professional agencies in System and/or Safety
+ Knowledge of International Trucks and their systems
+ Prior automotive industry experience in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), or autonomous driving vehicle, systems
+ Domain development experience in system design (e.g. steering, brake, ADAS controls, perception sensors, body, HMI, etc.)
+ Experience with machine learning, DNNs (deep neural networks), or related training
+ Algorithm development, image, video processing, etc
+ Familiarity with Software and electrical testing tools and validation systems (Canalyzer, HILs, VILs, etc.)
