    "** **Yellow Springs Instruments"** **YSI** **is part of Xylem Analytics and a leading provider of water measurement solutions.

     

    The Production Supervisor is responsible for managing the overall production of (Water Measuring, Sampling & Testing Instruments) activities within the organization.

     

    This role involves leading a team of 15 production professionals, developing and implementing production & assembly procedures, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The Production Supervisor works closely with engineers and conducts regular audits, reviews production data, and collaborates with other departments to address production issues and drive continuous improvement.

     

    Key responsibilities include managing production documentation, providing training and development opportunities for staff, and reporting on production performance to senior management.

    Core Responsibilities:

    Supervision and Leadership:

    Provide guidance and direction to production team

     

    Champion and enforce all safety protocols, procedures, and training

     

    Lead and motivate team to meet production goals

     

    Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback

     

    Identify and address any issues or conflicts within the team

    Production Planning and Coordination:

    Develop and implement production schedules

     

    Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth production flow

     

    Analyze production data and make recommendations for improvements

     

    Troubleshoot and resolve any production related issues

    Quality Control:

    Ensure products meet company quality standards

     

    Conduct quality inspections and audits

     

    Implement and maintain quality control procedures

     

    Address any quality issues or concerns in a timely manner

    Budget and Cost Management:

    Monitor and control production costs

     

    Identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements

     

    Prepare and track production budgets

     

    Make recommendations for equipment upgrades or replacements.

    Communication and Reporting:

    Communicate production updates and issues to upper management

     

    Provide regular reports on production progress and performance

     

    Coordinate with other departments for product launches or changes

     

    Maintain open and clear communication with production team members.

     

    Team Management: Coach

     

    Understand team dynamics and effective management practices. Supervisors should be adept at balancing individual tasks with overseeing team performance.

     

    Conflict Resolution: Ability to address conflicts within the team professionally and constructively.

     

    Motivational Skills: Inspire and motivate team members to achieve their best.

    Adaptability:

    Supervisors often encounter changing priorities and unexpected challenges. Being adaptable and flexible is crucial.

     

    Decision Making: Make informed decisions based on organizational goals and guidelines.

    Leadership by Example: Supervisors should model the behavior they expect from their team. This includes demonstrating a strong work ethic, integrity, and commitment to the organization’s values.

    Qualifications:

    Preferred: bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or two year technical degree

    2 year experience as a people manager

     

    Mechanical and electronics aptitude

     

    In-depth understanding of inventory management principles and practices.

     

    Experience with developing and implementing inventory management policies and procedures.

     

    Excellent organizational and time management skills.

     

    Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

     

    Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

     

    Proficiency in inventory management software and systems.

    The estimated salary range for this position is $72,300.00 to $85,000.00 plus bonus.   Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.  At Xylem we offer a competitive compensation package with a generous benefit package, including Medical, Dental, Vision plans, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave and tuition reimbursement.
