• Assistant Cross Country and Track and Field Coach

    Russell Sage College (Albany, NY)


     

    Position: The 10-month, 37.5 hr/week full-time assistant coach is responsible for assisting the head coach in all facets of a successful intercollegiate Cross Country and Track program within the framework of the mission of the college and the athletic department. These include, but are not limited to coaching, recruitment, academic monitoring, instruction and the development of all student-athletes. The ideal candidate has experience coaching the distance running events and cross country. Applicants should have experience competing in intercollegiate cross country and/or track and field.

     

    Duties: Assistance with oversight for all phases of the Cross Country and Track and Field programs. Primary responsibilities include attracting, recruiting and retaining student-athletes who fit the educational mission of Russell Sage College. The position requires the development of an intercollegiate athletic experience, which emphasize high levels of academic and athletic performance in an appropriate balance.

     

    + Knowledge of NCAA DIII rules and regulations to ensure compliance with departmental, conference and national policies

    + Ensure academic success, focusing on classroom achievements and graduation requirements

    + Assist Head Coach and Athletic Department with daily administrative duties including occasional game administration

    + Specific coaching responsibilities include:

    + Practice and game preparation

    + Game day management (facilities/team needs), coaching and travel

    + Recruitment efforts including, written and verbal communication and scouting

    + Planning and maintaining team budget

    + Supervision of support staff

    + Assist with fundraising efforts for the program

    + Training, practice development and organization

    + Compliance with NCAA and conference legislation

    + Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics

     

    The estimated wage is $23 per hour for 37.5 hours per week for 44 weeks.

    Job Requirements:

    + Bachelor's degree required; Masters degree preferred

    + Highly organized individual with strong writing and verbal skills

    + Previous college playing and/or coaching experience required

    + Experience in recruiting preferred

    + Demonstrated commitment to NCAA Division III philosophy.
