    Job Summary and Qualifications

     

    As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist Lead, you coordinate and lead activities with the designated location as directed by the supervisor. You will be responsible for gathering diagnostic information using radioactive materials administered intravenously; sophisticated radiation detecting, processing and imaging equipment and providing radioactive materials for use by physicians. You will work closely with other healthcare team members to facilitate exceptional patient care and efficient completion of diagnostic studies and procedures while also promoting optimal unit operations.

     

    + You will perform Nuclear Medicine exams in accordance facility protocols.

    + You will administer prescribed pharmaceutical grade radioactive materials to patients as outlined by state/federal regulations.

    + You will demonstrate appropriate radioactive materials safety measures for self, other staff and patients as outlined by state/federal regulations.

    + You will explain procedures to patients prior to exam.

    + You will demonstrate proficiency with equipment used for Nuclear Medicine exams

    + You will ensure availability of physicians for procedures requiring the administration of medications and supervision.

    + You will perform duties to maintain department functions such as QC checks.

    + You will maintain required documentation regarding radioactive materials, both upon receipt and prior to administration.

    + You will perform surveys and documents findings of work area, patient rooms, and radioactive waste storage area at appropriately scheduled intervals.

    + You will enter procedure charges to patient accounts prior to end of scheduled shift.

    + You will adhere to policies related to Standard Precautions, Infection Control, and Radiation Safety guidelines as described by TDHS and Joint Commission.

    + You will work with Radiation Safety Officer in maintaining quality control and quality assurance guidelines to ensure all regulatory standards are met, i.e., Texas Dept. of Health and Bureau of Radiation Control.

    + You will coordinate orientation for new staff/techs and assist in 90 day evaluations for new employees

    + You will coordinate daily assignments/procedures to ensure optimal operations.

    What qualifications you will need:

    + Two years previous diagnostic experience in acute care facility

    + Graduate of an AMA approved school of radiologic technology

    + Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification with Texas Medical Board (TMB)

    + Registered technologist with current certification by ARRT (N) or Nuclear Medicine Board Certified (CNMT)ARRT (VI), (CV) or CT, MRI or Mammo certification within 6 months of hire

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

    + Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
