Summary:
The Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) is a team of dedicated professionals providing core technology and cybersecurity services to agencies statewide, enabling state employees to serve Idaho's citizens. We sincerely hope you will consider being a part of our success!
ITS currently has an opportunity for IT Software Engineer I to join our team at our Chinden Office in Boise.This positionwill provide software development services for a wide range of applications in support of state agency missions.
The selected individual must have software development experience, active troubleshooting skills, the ability to collaborate across teams, and good knowledge of SDLC best practices. The successful candidate will be familiar with secure coding principles and working in an Agile team environment.
Please note: The successful candidate will be required to pass multiple, comprehensive fingerprint-based background checks specific to the agencies ITS supports. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States. The Idaho Office of Information Technology Services is unable to sponsor or assume sponsorship of an employment visa or participate in Optional Practical Training (OPT).
Example of Duties
+ Develops and delivers software applications to fulfill business needs;
+ Enhances andmaintainsexisting systems;
+ Participates in codereviews;
+ Collaborates with customer and ITS teams to define systemrequirements;
+ Provides application support and issue resolution;
+ Performs testing and quality assuranceactivities;
+ Participates in process improvementactivities;
+ Creates documentation for system and usersupport;
+ Provides excellent customer service and communication.
Minimum Qualifications
Good knowledge of:
+ Multiple programming languages and software development tool suites.
Typically gained by one course of classroom instruction at an accredited college or vocational-tech level directly related to one programming language and software development tool suites AND 6 months of work experience using programming languages and software development tools OR one year of work experience using programming languages and software development tools.
+ Software development processes and software testing practices.
Typically gained by a valid IT certification in software testing and development OR at least one year of work experience testing and developing software.
Experience:
+ Creating, interpreting and documenting user requirements.
Typically gained by at least one year of work experience on at least one development project.
+ Testing and deploying production systems.
Typically gained by at least one year of work experience testing and deploying production systems.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Good knowledge and experience in software development languages and frameworks such as C#, .NET Core, React, Java, HTML5, SQL, or JavaScript;
+ Experience consuming RESTful APIs in software solutions;
+ Knowledge of Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks such as Entity Framework Core;
+ Experience working in an Agile environment;
+ Knowledge of secure coding practice;
+ Familiarity with low-code development using tools like Power Platform and ServiceNow.
