    Behavior Support Specialist for the 25-26 School Year

     

    Lafayette Intermediate School

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Provide direct support to students: take students for a walk, a break, for a social skills group or intervention.

    + Work with individual students or groups of students on social emotional learning tasks.

    + Provide behavior check-ins with students and/or teachers.

    + Engage in problem solving with the teacher.

    + Collaborate with other professionals to support students.

    + Participate in MTSS meetings when requested.

    + Develop a tracking log to document students receiving support in the Behavior Intervention Center.

    + Provide crisis management with other support team members.

    + Establish and oversee a behavior intervention center to include reflection, restorative conferencing, and sensory supports.

    + Assist other staff in the management of student behavior when requested.

    + Collaborate to develop and implement behavior intervention plans for individual students.

    + Interpret and share information about students with the teacher and administrator, as necessary.

    + Assist the Tier 1 Team in implementing school-wide incentives, celebrations, and/or practices.

     

    SALARY: Minimum $27,591.41 annually per WEA contract plus $10,000 annually via stipend

    Job Qualifications

    + NYS Teaching Assistant III Certification

    + Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Teaching Assistant

    + TCIS trained with physical restraint or willingness to be trained.

    + Previous experience with restorative practices preferred.

    + Previous experience with behavior intervention preferred.
