Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our team in Hockley, Texas. This Contract-to-permanent position offers an opportunity to support essential accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will excel in maintaining accuracy, managing deadlines, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the accounting department.
Responsibilities:
• Process vendor invoices by matching them to purchase orders and receiving documents, ensuring accuracy.
• Enter invoice details into the accounting system with precision and maintain organized records.
• Assist in preparing payment runs for review and approval, while responding to vendor inquiries regarding payment status.
• Handle incoming payments and accurately apply them to customer accounts.
• Generate and distribute customer invoices and statements, maintaining well-organized files.
• Perform reconciliations for vendor and customer accounts, addressing discrepancies as needed.
• Provide administrative support such as data entry, document scanning, and filing financial records.
• Prepare accounting reports and spreadsheets while maintaining confidentiality of financial data.
• Assist with audit preparations by compiling necessary documentation.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes and contribute to bank reconciliations when required. Requirements • High School Diploma or equivalent required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration is preferred.
• At least 1-2 years of experience in an administrative role with exposure to accounting functions.
• Proven experience in managing both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas and data formatting.
• Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar platforms is an advantage.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information responsibly.
• Effective communication skills to liaise with vendors, customers, and team members.
