Description
Brooklyn based non profit organization is hiring a Senior Accountant - Grants to their team. They are in the office on a hybrid basis, so are seeking locally based candidates only.
Responsibilities:
+ Provide detailed monthly/quarterly analysis of budget vs actuals to properly manage and communicate over/underspending of grant funds;
+ Work directly with program staff to coordinate budget modification submissions to ensure revenue maximization across grant funding;
+ Record and maintain all Accounts Receivable related to grants billing and ensure revenue recognition is in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);
+ Follow up with funders to ascertain status of reimbursement;
+ Provide anticipated reimbursement data to supervisor to assist in cash flow planning;
+ Perform grant closeout functions required by funders to include reconciliations, financial status reports, final invoices, purchase order liquidations and balancing budget;
+ Manage the month-end close process, creation of P& L/Balance Sheet reports and preparation of monthly/annual reporting;
+ Responsible for the preparation, generation, and maintenance of all financial reports and voucher submissions;
+ Support government contract audits by preparing requested documentation ahead of time and serving as a point person for all communications;
+ Review invoices and coding for assigned contracts to ensure proper classification;
+ Support the preparation of year-end corporate and periodic contract compliance audits, including retrieving supporting documents and back-up information, as requested;
+ Prepare ad-hoc reports for finance team;
+ Provide account analysis for preparation and dissemination of 1099s;
+ Participate and lead special projects focused on continuous improvement of accounting practices;

Requirements
+ Accounting/Finance Degree
+ 2+ years Non-Profit Accounting experience
+ Must have Government Grants experience – high preference for New York State or New York City Grants
