Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to support our property management operations. This role will be responsible for full-charge bookkeeping duties across multiple associations/properties, while also coordinating financial activities with various Homeowner Association (HOA) Boards, Co-op Boards, and Condo Boards. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing multiple accounts, preparing financial reports, handling audits, and communicating with board members and vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Manage full-cycle accounting for multiple properties, including AP, AR, bank reconciliations, journal entries, general ledger, and monthly closes
+ Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements and supporting documents to property boards
+ Maintain segregated books for each entity in compliance with industry and GAAP standards
+ Work closely with Property Managers and HOA Boards on budgets, assessments, reserve studies, and financial planning
+ Process and track owner assessments, late fees, collections, and special assessments
+ Coordinate with external CPAs, auditors, and tax preparers during audit and tax cycles
+ Manage vendor payments, maintain W-9s, and prepare 1099s annually
+ Assist in annual budget preparation and board presentation support
+ Attend board meetings as needed to present or explain financials
+ Maintain compliance with internal controls and best accounting practices
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ 3–5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in property management or real estate
+ Strong understanding of HOA/condo/co-op board operations and financial reporting
+ Proficiency in accounting software such as Yardi, AppFolio, QuickBooks, or Buildium
+ Experience managing multiple entities or properties simultaneously
+ Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
+ Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
+ Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
