Job Overview:
The Transplant Assistant for the Lung Transplant Program works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team and is responsible for supporting the clinical and administrative staff by assisting with patient evaluations and care. Assist the transplant coordinators in all phases of transplant: pre-transplant evaluations, transplant, and post-transplant
Qualification
Required:
+ 3-5 years of recent medical experience
+ Medical assistant Certification
+ High School degree required
+ Associates Degree preferred
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office components (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point)

+ 37.5 Hour Work Week
Essential Functions:
+ Chart preparation for Patient Selection Committee (recipient, waitlist) and operational meetings. Scanning documents into the different medical records and transplant database
+ General office duties. Faxing, scanning, answer phones, assist with appointments, reimbursements. Order supplies and maintain refrigerator logs and patient logs in compliance with regulations and policy and procedures.
+ Obtain basic insurance authorizations. Schedule and reschedule testing as needed. Obtain Sharing Network forms and complete as necessary for blood tests
+ Performs medical assistant functions in the lung transplant clinic vital signs, follow up appointment testing and procedure tracking/scheduling. Retrieving and recoding labs, assisting with patient phone calls and general assistance to transplant coordinators. Venipuncture/phlebotomy when necessary
+ Schedule patients for pre-transplant evaluation. Schedule patient for office visits and follow up. Material and chart preparation, scheduling of studies and consults, retrieval of studies, tracking of required updates, organizing information and database assistance.
