Compensation:
Salary Range: $ 137, 914- $ 189,130 (Executive/1096)
Responsibilities:
Direct and oversee the Environmental Protection and Industrial Hygiene Division and provide support and technical assistance to the Operating Divisions. The major responsibilities of this position include ensuring regulatory compliance for the prevention and reduction of accidents to employees and the general public, and for the generation, handling, and controlling, of hazardous materials to minimize their release or impact to air/water/soil. This involves the development and implementation of environmental protection and industrial hygiene related policies, as well as overseeing the implementation of the following NYCT Programs: Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Chemical Safety/Hazard Communication, Confined Space Entry, Hazardous Waste Management, Stormwater Management, Bloodborne Pathogens/Infection Control, Silica, Painting Safety, and Environmental Management Systems. Serves as NYCT’s agency liaison to the NYS Department of Labor, interpret citations, provide guidance on abatement strategies, oversee satisfactory closure of violations, and facilitate investigations. Additionally, serves as NYCT’s subject matter expert at Workers’ Compensation hearings on employee hearing loss and respiratory impairment claims.
Education and Experience :
Baccalaureate degree major field of study- Environmental Science and Industrial Hygiene or a satisfactory equivalent and ten (10) years of experience of which five (5) years must have been in a managerial/supervisory/administrative capacity.
Desired Skills:
General understanding of Department of Subways’ and Buses’ operations and processes. In depth, working knowledge of Federal and State regulations, internal policies, and procedures. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity working in a unionized environment and with Department of Labor hearings. Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional.

Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.
