We are seeking a Community Engagement Manager to develop and execute community engagement and entitlement strategies for energy storage projects. This role serves as a critical liaison between local governments, residents, and stakeholders, ensuring the successful integration of our projects into the community. This role is fully remote with up to 30% travel.

Responsibilities:
+ Lead community engagement and entitlement strategies for energy storage projects
+ Serve as the primary liaison for local governments, residents, and stakeholders
+ Organize public meetings, open houses, and educational events
+ Monitor political and regulatory dynamics and mitigate entitlement risks
+ Oversee community benefit initiatives and grassroots advocacy
+ Collaborate with internal teams (Development, Legal, Government Affairs)
+ Track community sentiment and opposition to maintain project viability
+ Manage stakeholder databases and outreach materials
+ Help build a national coalition around energy storage education for cities
+ Roll out training and engagement strategies for OEMs, developers, and local partners
Qualifications:
Must-Haves:
+ 3–5 years of experience in community engagement, permitting, or public affairs
+ Familiarity with BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) or similar technologies
+ Strong communication and people skills
+ Highly organized and able to juggle multiple projects
+ Comfortable with up to 30% travel
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with SmartSheet or SiteTracker is a bonus
+ Confident speaking in public settings like city council meetings
+ Background in real estate, especially related to development agreements and project approvals
Nice-to-Haves:
+ Experience in renewable energy, oil & gas, or other energy sectors
+ Based in Denver or Southern California
+ Familiarity with economic development or solar projects
+ Background in legal, city planning, or community development
+ Experience using SmartSheet or SiteTracker
Work Environment:
This is a US-based remote role with up to 30% travel, primarily for city council and community meetings. The position involves frequent collaboration with internal teams and external partners, including legal, public affairs, and city staff. While candidates can be located anywhere in the US, those based in Denver or Southern California are preferred due to the concentration of projects in those regions. The team currently has two members supporting the area, and this role will play a key part in expanding capacity.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
