Bridges to Adelphi Program
JOB SUMMARY:
The primary responsibilities of the Social Coordinator are to assist the Associate Director, Senior Associate Director and Director of the Bridges to Adelphi Program in the overall administration of the program. Other responsibilities include planning and managing Bridges social programming, supervising the Social Coaches and the Social Coach Supervisors, the Peer Mentor Supervisor, Social Media Intern, and communicating and collaborating with other campus services.
The anticipated start date for this position is September 1st.
SALARY INFORMATION:
In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $54,000 - $58,000. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.

REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Social and Vocational Programming
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
+ Manage Social programming, including: Event planning including weekly social groups and bi-monthly social events; Create and manage Bridges student social committee, including bi-weekly meetings; Supervise graduate staff social group leaders by providing feedback to meeting notes and in 1:1 weekly supervisions; Identify areas of growth in terms of program support services to ensure support services meet the individual needs of each student enrolled in this aspect of the program.
+ Supervise Social Coaches and Social Coach Supervisors, including: Interviewing, hiring, and training of Social Coaches and Social Coach Supervisors; Collaborate with Social Coaches and Social Coach Supervisors to lead students toward identifying and achieving social goals; Provide written feedback to social coach’s meetings and notes and in 1:1 weekly supervision meetings; Provide written feedback to social coach supervisors notes and in 1:1 weekly supervision meetings; Review transitional documentation at the end of each semester to ascertain the progress and areas of growth for each student in social coaching services.
+ Manage Peer Mentor program, including: Identify various departments to partner with as a way to promote and recruit strong peer mentors; Participate in the interview, hiring, and training of Peer Supervisor and Peer Mentors; Supervise Peer Mentor Supervisor in 1:1 weekly meetings; Review transitional documentation at the end of each semester to ascertain the progress and areas of growth for each student in peer mentor services; Plan and host an Appreciation Event at the end of the semester.
+ Build upon partnerships for social events with other clubs and campus organizations to foster acceptance, appreciation, and inclusion of students within the Bridges Program
+ Recruit, Hire, Train and Supervise Social Media Intern.
+ Collaborate and communicate with other campus services as needed.
+ Provide on and off campus neurodiversity awareness workshops
+ Meet with students individually to address their social problems.
+ Support students as needed in meetings with the Student Conduct Office and Title IX Office, as needed.
+ Collaborate and facilitate ongoing communication with Residential Life and Housing to further support students during their transition to living on campus.
+ Support Social Liaison in identifying students to serve on Student Leadership Committee to ensure we are hearing the voices of our students and are truly supporting them
+ Mediate interpersonal conflicts between students in the Bridges Program.
+ Provide transitional counseling to incoming students.
+ Maintain confidential student records.
+ Assist Director, Senior Associate Director, and Associate Directors, as needed.
+ Continuously collaborate and support the other BAP coordinators.
+ Assist staff and students as needed.
+ Perform other job related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
+ Must possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
+ Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, G-mail, and Adelphi University Programs such as Moodle, Ecampus, CLASS, Degree Audit, and MyAULife.
+ Knowledge and Experience working with college students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
+ Knowledge and experience working with college students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
+ Strong ability to collaborate with others and work as a team.
+ Able to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and 6 days per week.
+ Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
+ Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Education, Communication Disorders, or currently enrolled in a graduate program in one of those, or related fields is strongly preferred.
+ Minimum of one year of related work experience in autism spectrum disorders, student services, and higher education is preferred.
