    Position Title Coordinator, Prison Education Programs

    Summary of Position

    The Coordinator of Prison Education Programs provides leadership and operational oversight for all college programs delivered within Gatesville-area TDCJ units, including credit-bearing academic courses, career and technical education ( CTE ), non-credit workforce certifications, and dual-credit offerings in partnership with Windham School District ( WSD ). The Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between CTC , TDCJ , WSD , faculty, and internal college departments.

    Minimum Required Education

    + Associate’s degree and four (4) years of full-time, wage-earning experience; OR

    + Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of wage-earning experience; OR

    + Master’s degree and one (1) year of wage-earning experience. All degrees must be from a nationally, regionally, or state-accredited institution of higher education.

     

    Qualifying experience includes correctional education, workforce education, higher education administration, program coordination, student services, or related compliance-focused educational settings.

     

    Minimum Required Experience

     

    Refer to experience required based on education level.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    + Knowledge of correctional education systems, including TDCJ and WSD policies and procedures.

    + Understanding of compliance regulations related to incarcerated students, including Pell Grant eligibility, FERPA , and DOE reporting standards.

    + Familiarity with academic, CTE , and non-credit program structures, including credential pathways and course sequencing.

    + Strong organizational, project management, and multitasking skills across multi-site correctional settings.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging internal and external stakeholders.

    + Proficiency in data systems and tools (e.g., student information systems, spreadsheets, databases) for reporting and tracking.

    + Ability to build collaborative relationships and maintain professional communication across institutional and agency partners.

    + Ability to work independently, manage sensitive data, adapt to evolving regulations, and uphold ethical standards.

     

    Salary 1J/Per Salaried Pay Scale

     

    Hours Full-time, indicate working hours - M-Thur 7:30-5:30, Fr 7:30-11:30

    + Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required for events and programs.

    + Occasional travel may be necessary to build partnerships and attend conferences.

    + Must be capable of working under precise and exacting conditions and be able to work under stress.

    + Must have a neat appearance and have the ability to work well with the general public and others.

    + Must be willing to work with incarcerated students.

    + Must meet Texas Department of Criminal Justice ( TDCJ ) security requirements.
