    Job Title: Control Panel Technician/Fabricator

    Job Description

    Design and build control panels for the oil and gas industry, chemical plants, and custom projects. This position entails the physical assembly, wiring, and testing of control panels for industrial equipment. The Technician will fabricate controls according to print specifications, including layout and physical mounting of components to the back panel, wiring of all components, installation of control panels onto equipment, and thorough testing to ensure proper operation.

    Responsibilities

    + Dimension and layout of back panels and enclosures.

    + Mount components to back panels and enclosures.

    + Route and bundle wire and cables neatly to meet wiring standards.

    + Perform point-to-point wiring of relays, controls, PLCs, I/O Modules, VFDs, Interfaces, and Instrumentation.

    + Troubleshoot panels as needed to eliminate wiring errors and component malfunctions.

    + Maintain red line drawing mark-ups of changes required during fabrication.

    + Communicate red line changes to the Manufacturing Manager for revision prior to completion.

    + Meet deadlines under pressure.

    + Perform other duties as assigned or as needed, including mechanical, electrical, and network installation of systems.

    Essential Skills

    + High standard of quality and attention to detail.

    + Excellent people skills with a can-do attitude.

    + Ability to understand and work from schematics.

    + Knowledge of electrical theory and terminology.

    + Panel building, panel wiring, and panel assembly expertise.

    + Point-to-point wiring capability.

    + Mechanical assembly skills.

    + Proficiency in reading schematics.

    + Experience in PLC - Allen Bradley assembly.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Minimum of 2 years of experience.

    + Mechanical assembly skills.

    + PLC knowledge.

    + Ability to read wiring diagrams and perform point-to-point wiring.

    Work Environment

     

    The work environment involves the fabrication of PLC panels and cabinets within a climate-controlled setting. The company operates a small production area with approximately 8 employees. The shift is from 7 AM to 4 PM, typically 40 hours per week, with occasional Saturday work. Lunch break is from 11 AM to 12 PM.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plano, Texas.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.
