Summary:
The Director of Rail Operations Systems Development and Analysis is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and analysis of systems related to rail operations. They work closely with various stakeholders to identify operational needs, design and implement systems solutions, and analyze
data to improve efficiency and performance. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise in rail operations systems, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. The Director of Rail Operations Systems Development and Analysis plays a crucial role in ensuring the
smooth and efficient functioning of rail operations.
Roles and Responsibilities:
+ Directs the functioning of Operating System Development Group, project teams of NJ TRANSIT and consultant staff in all activities related to design and implementation of computer systems that support Rail Operations.
+ Directs the production of operating reports detailing activities related to train operations, crew utilization, payroll, operating statistics, Rail vehicle maintenance performance and assignment of agreement personnel.
+ Coordinates the analysis of key operating reports in determining trends, seasonal variations, operational discrepancies and unusual developments requiring appropriate actions.
+ Coordinates the development of hardware and software specifications for new or enhanced computer systems for Rail Operations. Manages the training of operating departments in the use of developed computer systems. Evaluates software developed for transit applications.
+ Obtains funding for and manages consultants in design and development of computer systems for Rail Operations.
+ Develops priorities for computer applications, and analyzes operations for automation opportunities for Rails Operations.
+ Prepares plans for integrating various computer systems, such as Scheduling, Dispatching, Radio Communications, Finance, Vehicle Maintenance, etc. to maximize opportunities for information sharing and effective use of resources for Rail Operations.
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
+ Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related area
+ Ten (10) years transportation management experience including computer system design and implementation.
+ One year of closely related work experience may be substituted for each year of required education.
