    Job Purpose & Scope

     

    Supports the AP Manager by overseeing the day-to-day operations of the AP Department.

     

    Essential Job Functions

     

    + Supervises and trains AP staff, including delegating tasks and providing feedback.

    + Oversees daily payment processing, including checks, ACH and wire transfers.

    + Reconciles monthly corporate credit card statement and ensures all employee reports are received prior to due date.

    + Assists in accounts payable training to ensure adherence to company travel policies as well as governmental, regulatory, and legislative requirements.

    + Reviews payments in A/P system for accuracy.

    + Performs analysis and research of Accounts Payable data and makes recommendations on staff development and/or training opportunities.

    + Maintains vendor records, including W-9 information and 1099 preparation.

    + Monitors Accounts Payable processes, reports inefficiencies, and makes process improvement recommendations to AP Manager.

    + Supports integration activities during acquisitions and system transitions.

    + Collaborates with AP Manager to respond to internal and external audit requests.

    + Participates in special projects and ad-hoc tasks, as needed.

    + Manages outstanding checks and follows up on uncashed payments.

    + Reviews and approves new vendors as well as modifications.

     

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

     

    + Knowledge of modern accounting theory, principles and practices.

    + Knowledge of office automation and computerized financial applications.

    + Strong ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment in decision-making.

    + Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, vendors and /or customers.

    + Ability to lead and supervise employees effectively.

    + Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects, as well as the ability to adapt quickly to changing needs.

    + Ability to prepare and analyze complex financial reports.

    + Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

    + Ability to demonstrate initiative to accomplish work objectives.

    + Ability to demonstrate effective organization, critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.

    + Ability to work without close supervision.

    + Ability to maintain confidentiality.

    + Skill in using computer and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

    Basic Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or other job-related field, or commensurate work experience, required.

    + 4+ years of work experience in Accounts Payable or Accounting, required.

    + 1+ years of experience in a supervisory role, required.
