Performs direct observation of the patient with a mental health or behavioral safety need. Utilizes specialized training, de-escalation techniques and other interventions as applicable to create a therapeutic and calming environment for patients. Communicates patient mental and/or physical status changes to the primary Registered Nurse and/or Nurse Leader. Completes data collection related to patient care, administers basic treatments and procedures under the direction of a Registered Nurse, and communicates patient responses to the care provided to the Registered Nurse. Assumes personal accountability for organizational mission and core values.

Qualifications:

In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

High School Diploma/G.E.D.

CNA (REQUIRED)

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or related human services field, preferred

One year experience in an acute care setting, mental health, human services or related is preferred.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of therapeutic interventions. Basic computer skills

BLS

Physical Requirements Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly

This is a night shift role for a CNA who has experience in the behavioral health setting. The hours for this role start at 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, covering varied days of the week.

The Behavioral Health department at Holy Cross Hospital – Jordan Valley West is a compassionate and supportive haven for individuals seeking healing and respite. With 26 beds dedicated to our patient’s well-being, we offer a nurturing environment where every individual is treated with utmost care and dignity. Within our unit, we have 4 specialized high acuity beds, ensuring that those in need of intensive care receive the focused attention and comprehensive treatment they require. Additionally, our main unit consists of 22 beds, allowing us to cater to a diverse range of behavioral health needs.

Our friendly and empathetic staff members are the heart of our unit. They create a warm and welcoming environment, fostering a sense of safety and trust for our patients. Our team is comprised of experienced mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, nurses and therapists, who collaboratively ensure comprehensive care. We are dedicated to promoting mental wellness, offering a supportive environment, and helping our patients on their journey to recovery.
