    Job Summary:

    We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team focused on building the next generation of digital media platforms and services. In this role, you will contribute to critical engineering efforts aimed at modernizing the Studio’s digital supply chain, implementing agentic workflows, and automating complex content operations. You'll also support the continued evolution of Movies Anywhere, our flagship consumer-facing movie platform, as part of our broader technology portfolio, and assist with technology solutions that support creative and marketing workflows for our partners across the Studios, including Marketing, Disney Music Group, and Disney Theatrical Group.

     

    As a Senior Software Engineer, you will collaborate closely with a cross-functional team of technologists, product managers, and business stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing highly scalable, secure, and reliable cloud-based solutions across major cloud platforms, enhancing operational efficiency through automation, and delivering robust backend systems that support the Studio’s global media processing workflows. You'll also have the opportunity to leverage cutting-edge technologies, including AI and Large Language Models (LLMs), to develop agent-based solutions that streamline technology and operational challenges.

     

    We're looking for someone passionate about crafting clean, maintainable code who thrives in collaborative environments. You should excel at clearly communicating complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders, possess a curiosity and enthusiasm for continuous learning, and have a genuine passion for technology that fuels boundless storytelling.

    Responsibilities:

    + Define, architect, design, and build high-quality software solutions across multiple platforms and with several engineering teams.

    + Collaborate with other software engineers and cross-functional teams.

    + Regularly review code from peers for continuous improvements and shared knowledge.

    + Troubleshoot production issues and provide on-call support.

    + Evangelize technologies, solutions, and best practices.

    + Contribute new ideas to a larger community of high-caliber professionals.

    + Mentor early-career developers via pair programming, technical talks, and code reviews.

    Requirements:

    + BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.

    + 5+ years of professional experience in building software for consumer facing products and/or enterprise backend systems.

    + Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms to solve problems.

    + Proficiency in JavaScript, Typescript, HTML, CSS (Box Model, Specificity, Flexbox, Grid), CSS Design Systems (BEM, OOCSS)

    + Proficiency in Node.js, Java, and Kotlin.

    + Experience with front-end frameworks such as AngularJS or React.

    + Experience in building microservices using Spring Boot.

    + Experience working with AWS or similar cloud services.

    + Experience in RESTful web services and GraphQL.

    + Experience in relational and NoSQL databases.

    + Experience in continuous integration and deployment.

    + Solid communication skills – both written and verbal.

    + Ability to work independently as a self-starter.

    + Ability to function well within a diverse team.

     

    The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is $138,900.00-$186,200.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
