The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is a Professional Engineer for the Dam Safety section of the Nevada Division of Water Resources. The position will be located in Carson City. The incumbent performs inspections of existing dams across Nevada and assisting in plan review and permitting process for new dams, alterations to existing dams, and decommissioning of dams. The inspection of dams requires up to up to 10 to 12 weeks per year of fieldwork, as well as large amounts of data management. Other duties include the operation and maintenance of South Fork Dam, project management including project management, breach inundation mapping, hydraulics and hydrology analysis, geotechnical analysis, and grant management. This position is also responsible for managing and reviewing the work of staff members assisting in the duties described above. Current Licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.)
Special Requirements
A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
The Examination

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
