Custom Job Purpose:
This position exists to perform specialized technical work in the creation and production of video and audio presentations, and coordination of multi-media related activities, to build and maintain public understanding and support for Polk County Public Schools. Plans, designs, and produces video content for administrative teams, departments, schools, and the Board that promote District initiatives and programs. Supports the district's special recognition programs through video production and technical support.
Essential Functions of this Job
Responsible for coordinating and producing videos for various mediums, including multi-media channels, such as social media, district websites, and the district's television channel. Provides graphic design and written content support for a variety of audio-visual productions. Maintains and operates video production equipment. Recommends procurement of new and replacement equipment. Provides technical assistance for various live productions including special recognition programs and district-wide meetings; may include live television/webcast coordination, audio and video support, presentation setup and general photography. Serves as a videographer, responds to video needs of the district. Provides guidance to schools and departments on video-related topics. Produces public service announcements and disseminates to targeted media. Prepares communications for media and general public.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Provides necessary production and technology support during crisis communication, news conferences and events. Specialized technical knowledge in the operation of video production equipment. A thorough knowledge of media production including photography, audio, lighting/staging, filming, and editing. Ability to work effectively with district staff. Ability to maintain and prepare records, reports, and files. Proven ability to manage projects independently, drive projects to successful completion, and produce events within budget. Ability to organize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Strong Adobe CS Suite and other products (Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, After Effects), Microsoft Office suite and other products (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint), Windows OS, Apple OS, and HTML technical software skills.
Strong Final Cut Pro editing skills.
Word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Problem solving skills.
Video script writing, editing, and filming skills.
Ability to implement continuous improvement processes.
Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy in working with and building consensus among various stakeholder groups to meet the district's educational goals.
Ability to maintain and improve knowledge of current trends in video production.
Ability to use excellent judgment.
Ability to develop strategies and tactics to achieve department goals.
Bilingual/biliterate preferred.
Education, Experience and/or Certification/License Requirements
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree in Broadcast Communications, Broadcast Journalism, Mass Communications, or related field preferred. Minimum of two years' experience in multi-media production preferred.
Work Context:
Requires some sitting and standing, walking and moving about to coordinate work. Requires the use of alternative communication systems, such as electronic mail, telephones and computers. Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines. Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with individuals and/or teams. Requires work with students, internal and external contacts, and with the public. May be called upon frequently to work outside of normal workday schedules.
Physical Environment:
Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Requires sitting for the majority of the day, and the ability to lift, carry, move and/or position objects infrequently weighing up to 30 pounds.
