    The mission of the Department of Corrections is to be a public safety resource for Arkansas families by providing professional management solutions and evidence-based rehabilitative initiatives for offenders.

Medical marijuana usage, as defined in Amendment 93 of the Arkansas Constitution, prohibits Personnel in a Safety-Sensitive Position from the use of medical marijuana even if they are qualifying patient under the amendment and/or hold a registry identification card. Department Personnel are prohibited from the use or possession of a medicinal marijuana card pursuant to this policy and state law.

    Job Summary

    The Farm Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and daily operations of a state-managed farm facility. This position assists with agricultural production activities, staff scheduling, supply coordination, and compliance monitoring. The Farm Coordinator ensures that agricultural activities align with production goals, state policies, and safety standards, while collaborating closely with the Farm Manager and/or Farm Supervisor.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Coordinate and oversee specific operational aspects of farm production. Work with Farm Supervisors to assign tasks to employees, inmates, or program participants, and ensure that all safety procedures are followed. Monitor inventories of seed, feed, equipment, fertilizers, and other supplies; assist with purchasing or reordering materials. Maintain logs and production records for crops, livestock, labor hours, and resource use. Assist in the care and treatment of livestock or poultry, including administering medications under direction. Prepare regular status reports for internal review or compliance inspections. Operate farm vehicles, tractors, and small to medium farm machinery; report maintenance needs. Support education or rehabilitation programs by providing training or demonstrations to participants when applicable. Communicate with vendors, contractors, or agency partners related to farm operations or resource coordination. Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal agricultural guidelines, including environmental and food safety laws.

     

    Knowledge and Skills

     

    Knowledge of basic to intermediate principles of crop cultivation, animal husbandry, and agricultural equipment operation. Knowledge of safety practices, state and federal agricultural regulations, and recordkeeping practices. Ability to prioritize daily responsibilities, work cooperatively, and identify operational issues. Ability to communicate effectively, apply chemicals or fertilizers, and think critically. Skilled in time management, organization, and problem solving. Skilled in troubleshooting, large-scale farm operations, and seasonal planning.

    Minimum Qualifications

    At least two years of experience agricultural production, farm operations, ranch management, or a related field.
