    *DEPUTY HEAD SPECIAL SITUATIONS GROUP*

     

    WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

     

    This colleague is responsible for the team's timely and appropriate management of CNB's criticized and classified credits in the bank's workout group known as Special Situations Group or SSG. The portfolio contains C&I, Investor Commercial Real Estate, and Consumer loans The focus of this team is to maximize recovery to CNB with a goal of rehabilitating certain customers to pass credit status and returning the relationshiptoRelationship Managers on the Line of Business. Portfolio management includes recommendation of loan decisions on credits as well as Borrower and Regulatory risk ratings. Additionally, Deputy Head will lead the bank-wide quarterly portfolio review discussions and, on an ongoing basis, provide technical advice and assistance to lending and credit colleagues on the line in identification and evaluation of potential problem loans. Develops, improves and enforces the department's internal policies and procedures. Performs other duties as requested.

     

    WHAT WILL YOU DO?

     

    * Proactively manages team of Relationship Managers handling complex portfolio of problem C&I and commercial real estate loans. Leads a team developing and recommending strategies to rehabilitate, where appropriate, or to maximize recovery and reduce losses from portfolios. Negotiates and executes restructurings with clients including credit approval recommendations and legal documentation. Prepares and reviews a variety of reports dealing with portfolio status, risk classification and proposed action plans, performance tracking, recommendations for charge-offs and other routine reports.

    * Ensures the timely recognition and reporting of changes in loan quality and risk to minimize the Bank's exposure and ensure that proper reserves are in place.

    * Directs department workflow. Oversees and approves colleague training, performance appraisals, counseling and hiring and termination decisions. Lends support to team in negotiations with commercial loan customers in cases where the customer's relationship with the Bank is at a serious juncture or where the loan is particularly large or complex.

    * Interfaces with line units and credit risk colleagues to identify loan problems early and to help recommend corrective action. Also, provides consultative assistance outside of SSG to other areas of CNB, particularly on deteriorating assets. Refers to internal or external attorneys whenever special loan documents or confirmation of the Bank's legal position is required.

    * As senior leader in SSG, provide overall guidance and support across the entire group. Partner with Head of SSG in preparing presentations for regulators, Chief Credit Officer, and/or executive management; addressing Issues; and leading SSG projects. Provide mentorship and training to junior colleagues.

     

    WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

     

    *Required Qualifications**

    * Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

    * Minimum of 15 years commercial/corporate lending experience

    * Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.

    *Additional Qualifications*

    * Bachelor's or master's degree with broad studies in the areas of Business, Finance, Economics and Accounting and real estate lending experience.

    * Superior knowledge of commercial real estate finance, workout and restructuring, credit, appraisal, and legal documents.

    * Requires thorough knowledge of appropriate banking laws, regulations and bank policies and practices.

    * Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of Bank personnel and customers.

    * Must possess strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite.

    *Compensation*Starting base salary: $157,943 - $293,299 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
