    Job Description

    **STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:** Cleans and maintains CERL office building to ensure a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean environment for all agency constituents.

    **RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS:** This position has no direct supervisory responsibility.

    SPECIFIC ACTIVITES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    + Completes assigned daily work schedule as prepared by supervisor;

    + Sweeps, mops, and waxes floors;

    + Vacuums carpets thoroughly up to baseboards to be free of dust, dirt and particles;

    + Washes windows, interior and exterior, and cleans blinds as scheduled;

    + Maintains washrooms and locker rooms, de-scale toilet bowls and urinals, maintain floors sweep and damp mop, sanitizing all surfaces and keeping supplies stocked;

    + Keeps kitchen and cafeteria areas clean and stocked;

    + Cleans all drinking fountains so that they are free form spots, stains, smudges or streaks;

    + Picks up trash from offices, cleans cans as necessary, and provides fresh supplies of bags;

    + Removes trash and breaks down boxes and disposes of debris properly;

    + Uses provided equipment properly and safely, including industrial vacuum cleaner, floor scrubber, polisher, floor sweeper, and all tools needed for assigned tasks;

    + Adjusts hours, as needed, to assist with special projects and events;

    + Performs all duties with an attitude of safety and consideration displayed by all employees of The Chicago Lighthouse;

    + Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    + High school diploma or equivalent required;

    + At least one year of previous maintenance experience preferred;

    + Dependability, cooperation, and ability to work independently required;

    + Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and operate equipment required;
