The Pre-Analytics Processing Technician is responsible for manually processing laboratory specimens, performing daily quality assurance activities, and maintaining equipment. A caregiver in this position variable shifts from 6:30AM - 1:30PM or 7:00AM - 2:00PM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

+ Receive and accession specimens into the LIS (Lab Information System).

+ Prepare specimens for analysis.

+ Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting, and routine maintenance), problem-solving functions, and issue resolution.

+ Assume compliance with basic regulations (temperature monitoring).

+ Perform QA activities (pending log audit).

+ Retrieve, sort, track and deliver specimens and verify receipts in the lab.

+ Perform basic clerical functions (i.e., answering phones).

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

+ High School Diploma or GED

+ One year of lab experience OR associate's degree

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

+ Associate's degree, preferably in a science related field

Physical Requirements:

+ Manual dexterity to perform specimen handling techniques and to take measurements

+ Extended periods of standing, walking and/or sitting

+ Handling and transporting bio hazardous materials

+ Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors

+ Normal or corrected vision

+ Lifting and/or carrying objects up to 25 pounds

Personal Protective Equipment:

+ Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as defined in the exposure control plan
