Job Description
The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has an opening for a Bureau Secretary in the Financial Frauds Bureau. The Financial Frauds Bureau investigates and prosecutes financial crimes affecting individuals and businesses, including employee embezzlement, fraudulent documents, insurance fraud, real estate offenses, unauthorized practice of law and schemes to defraud the public. In this position, the Bureau Secretary is responsible for providing highly skilled secretarial and administrative support to Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs), the Bureau Administrator, and Professional Staff.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Performs secretarial tasks, administrative and research functions, and clerical assignments.
- Works with bureau supervisors to ensure efficient management of bureau operations.
- Answers bureau telephones; takes and delivers accurate messages promptly.
- Greets witnesses and visitors and notifies appropriate staff of their arrival.
- Orders bureau supplies and maintains appropriate inventory.
- Maintains bureau databases and calendars, and updates information accordingly.
- Inputs incoming written correspondence into our complaint tracking system.
- Acts as liaison to interoffice units including Grand Jury, Human Resources, Operations, Records, Fiscal, IT, Telecommunications, and Clerk's Office.
- Maintains all bureau equipment.
- Perform related administrative and clerical duties as needed.
In addition to the Minimum Qualification Requirements, candidates must possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.
Preferred Requirements/Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to learn in-house proprietary software applications.
- Ability to follow directions, work independently, and manage assignments.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-up.
- Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with Office staff.
- Prior secretarial experience.
- Bilingual Spanish a plus.
- Public Notary a plus.
- Knowledge of criminal justice system a plus.

Additional Information:
- Current office employees: To be eligible for a transfer or promotion, staff must have already served at least one (1) year in their current unit/bureau/department and be in good standing. In addition, must meet the minimum and additional qualifications of the position.
- Looking for candidates that could commit to one (1) year to the hiring unit.
- Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.

Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
