As a Lead Technologist, you will provide imaging and patient care services at defined levels to patients and deliver your technical expertise and direction to technologists as needed. Responsibilities include but are not limited to operating various types of x-ray equipment, including stationary units, mobile machines, C-arms, and fluoroscopy systems, to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation while ensuring patient safety, proper positioning, and adherence to radiation protection protocols. As a Lead Technologist you are also responsible for x-ray staffing schedules and providing instructions to students.
A caregiver in this position works days from 7:30 a.m. -- 4:00 p.m., with occasional weekends and holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Supervise and coordinate work activities of assigned personnel.
+ Schedule work assignments, prepare master schedules and perform payroll time sheets for employees.
+ Assist with interviewing applicants and training, guide and provide feedback to current team members.
+ Maintain procedure manual and communicate changes to staff.
+ Assist with all policies and procedures required by local, state, or federal law and compliance or credentialing bodies (ACR, MQSA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, etc.).
+ Assist with instrument calibration and records to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements.
+ Ensure and maintain quality control, radiation protection and safety standards through daily/weekly quality assurance tests.
+ Prepare and administer contrast media and/or medications within accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
+ Provide technical direction with complex cases and problem solving.
+ Schedule routine preventative maintenance on equipment to meet safety and regulatory standards and instruct other area personnel in protection.
+ Prepare and check patients prior to the procedure.
+ Acquire, review, verify and validate patient questionnaire, chart, data/requisition and patient screening safety form.
+ Perform imaging procedures required per protocol.
+ Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams.
+ Perform venous punctures and maintain competency.
+ Immediately report any malfunctions and equipment dysfunctions to the help desk and PACS Administrator.
+ Review process films/scans to determine quality and need for additional images.
+ Provide leadership and clinical coverage for other imaging modalities and/or locations as needed.
+ Lead participation in modality enterprise meetings or specialized committees or projects within the Diagnostic Institute
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Graduate of an accredited educational program in Radiography
+ Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(ARRT) OR Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers OR Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist through the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board
+ Current state licensure
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
+ Two years of recent modality experience

Physical Requirements:
+ Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
+ Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Personal Protective Equipment:
+ Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
