Cleveland Clinic's Martin North Hospital has patients from across the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean turn to the Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute for life-saving treatment options. As an RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, from initial introduction to discharge. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare education as needed. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills.

A caregiver in this position works days 8:30 a.m. -- 5:00 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

+ Perform telephone triage.

+ Notify physicians/LIPs of abnormal findings.

+ Establish a care plan in collaboration with the patient, family, and health care team.

+ Collaborate with care coordinators to ensure smooth and effective transitions of care.

+ Assist with specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

+ Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physician/LIP and monitor patients for response.

+ Participate in quality initiatives, process improvements, and research activities to improve patient outcomes, patient experience, and patient safety.

+ Maintain professional growth and development in the nursing field and identify annual core competencies.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

+ Graduate of an approved School of Nursing

+ Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

+ Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within six months of hire

+ One year of clinical experience as an RN

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

+ Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).

+ Will consider LPN, Medical Assistant and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience in substitution of RN experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting OR a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area transferring into an ambulatory area.

Physical Requirements:

+ Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

+ Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.

+ May requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.

+ Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.

+ Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.

+ Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
