    Job Description Summary

    Becton Dickinson (BD) is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Director to lead our R&D Program Management Office (PMO). This critical role will oversee the execution of research and development programs, ensuring alignment with BD's innovation goals and strategic objectives. The Senior Director will drive excellence in project management, foster a culture of innovation, and ensure the successful delivery of R&D initiatives within the Medication Management Solutions (MMS) business.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    + Leadership and Strategy: Provide visionary leadership to the R&D PMO, setting strategic direction and ensuring alignment with BD's overall innovation and business goals.

    + Program Execution: Oversee the successful execution of complex R&D programs from inception through completion, ensuring they meet key milestones and deliverables.

    + Resource Management: Allocate resources effectively, ensuring optimal utilization and balancing project demands with available capacity.

    + Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with R&D program execution, ensuring proactive problem resolution.

    + Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with senior leadership, R&D teams, and external partners to ensure alignment and support for program initiatives.

    + Process Improvement: Implement and refine PMO processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in R&D project management.

    + Compliance and Quality: Ensure all R&D programs comply with regulatory standards and quality management systems.

    + Team Development: Mentor and develop PMO team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.

    Qualifications:

    + Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

    + Experience:

    + At least 20 years of growing responsibility in R & D technical engineering roles or a PhD in a relevant engineering discipline with 13 years of industry experience, with extensive, successful experience in product development and a clear understanding of quality management systems.

    + Minimum of 10 years of experience in R&D program/project management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

    + Skills: Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills; excellent communication and interpersonal abilities; proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.

    + Ability to lead complex programs which are developed in partnership with a matrixed organization and external technical suppliers.

    + Outstanding written and oral communication skills required. Experience leading global teams is a strong plus.

    + Ability to mentor and develop talent for current and future needs and will positively align talent decisions to strategic plans.

    + Demonstrated analytical, decision making, prioritization and problem-solving skills.

    + Strong business acuity and customer centricity.

    + Industry Knowledge:

    + Deep understanding of the medical technology industry and regulatory environment.

    + Project management experience for complex medical device systems. PMP certification or equivalent project management methodology certification strongly preferred.

    + Experience in Lean Business Management Systems (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, PSP)

    + Willingness to travel up to 20% (domestic and international).

    Salary Range Information

     

    $199,600.00 - $359,300.00 USD Annual
