Position Summary: Provide direct health services to individual students and staff.

Qualifications, certification, and Experience

+ Current license as a registered nurse (RN) from the Iowa Board of Nursing

+ Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred

+ Knowledge of professional standards, the Nurse Practice Act and other statutes and regulations

+ Current CPR/AED certification

+ Completed studies designed to develop knowledge and skills in the following areas:

+ health concerns of school youth

+ physical and emotional health of children and adults

+ community agencies/resources

+ legal rights and due process

+ Ability to manage the components of the School Health Program

+ Works well with others, maintaining positive and effective communication with school personnel and students

+ Contributes to creating a positive work environment

+ Demonstrates integrity and respects confidentiality

+ Arrives on time and works consistently until the end of his/her scheduled day

+ Takes advantage of professional growth opportunities related to his/her specific job

+ Works independently and with confidence

+ Demonstrates ability to adjust to new and changing situations

+ Effective oral and written communication skills

Professional Performance Criteria

+ Manages School Health services

+ Implements the Nursing Process and Standards of School Nursing Practice (NASN 2005)

+ Maintains accurate health records on all students

+ Promotes optimal environmental health

Terms of Employment: Substitutes are called and used on an “as needed basis” with no guarantee of hours or days.
