    Title: Adjunct Instructor: Talented and Gifted Education (Part-Time January 2026)

    Job Summary:

    The Drake University Teaching and Learning Department invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor starting January 2026. The instructor will be responsible for teaching one section of a single-credit undergraduate/graduate course titled EDUC 196/296: Differentiated Instruction for the Gifted (This course is cross-listed for both undergraduate and graduate students).

     

    This asynchronous, online course is designed to help students develop educational programs and services for gifted learners in the PK-12 educational setting. Students will explore NAGC program standards, best practices for teaching gifted students and assessing their learning, programming models/options (e.g., acceleration, differentiation etc.), and common instructional/assessment strategies. The instructor will be responsible for the facilitation and assessment of all related course work.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree or higher in Education.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • At least 3 years of PK-12 teaching experience in gifted education.

    • Experience in teaching adult learners in a virtual/online format.

    Job Duties:

    + 70% - • Serve as instructor of record for the course, using an existing course syllabus as the foundation for instruction - (Essential)

    + 30% - • Use the Blackboard Ultra Learning Management System to facilitate student learning experiences - (Essential)

    + 10% - • Document individual student achievement of course goals/objectives - (Essential)

    + 5% - • Maintain timely communication with students, with Drake Teaching and Learning faculty and/or the Talented and Gifted endorsement program lead - (Essential)
