Job Purpose: The Maintenance Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering high-quality training programs for aviation maintenance technicians, focusing on FAA Part 145 compliance and industry best practices. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that technicians acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to perform maintenance tasks effectively and safely on a variety of aircraft types. The Maintenance Trainer contributes to the professional development and competency of technicians, ultimately supporting the organization's commitment to excellence in aviation maintenance. The Maintenance Trainer reports to the Ground Operations Training Manager and works closely with them to design, implement, and evaluate training programs.
Job Description:
+ Develop and deliver structured training programs for aviation maintenance technicians, focusing on FAA compliance and industry best practices.
+ Collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to ensure content is relevant to learning objectives and training supports learner acquisition of required skills.
+ Conduct theoretical and practical training sessions covering aircraft systems, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting techniques, and safety protocols.
+ Create engaging and interactive learning materials, including presentations, manuals, simulations, hands-on activities, and task or skill evaluations.
+ Assess trainee performance, provide feedback, and track progress to ensure competency and compliance with regulatory standards.
+ Collaborate with internal stakeholders, industry partners, and regulatory bodies to stay updated on industry trends and training requirements.
+ Assist in the review and audit of aircraft maintenance training plans and records to ensure completion, accuracy, and compliance with FAA, EASA, or other regulatory requirements.
+ Maintain training facilities, equipment, and materials to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
+ Participate in continuous professional development activities to enhance instructional skills and aviation maintenance knowledge.
Qualified applicants will:
+ Possess a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license.
+ Have a Bachelor's degree in Aviation Maintenance, or related field, with 2 or more years of aviation maintenance experience; OR
+ In lieu of a degree, have 5 years of hands-on aviation maintenance experience working on a variety of aircraft types within the last 7 years.
+ Demonstrate sound knowledge of FAA regulations, industry standards, and best practices related to aviation maintenance training.
+ Demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively verbally convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
+ Be able to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
+ Have strong organizational and time management skills.
Exceptional candidates will:
+ Have proven experience developing and delivering aviation maintenance training programs, preferably in a Part 145 Repair Station environment.
+ Possess a Master’s degree in Aviation Maintenance, Education, or Instructional Design or have teaching or instructional design certification.
+ Experience with aviation maintenance training software and simulation tools.
+ Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
+ Experience working with diverse groups of trainees, including entry-level technicians and experienced maintenance professionals.
Job Experience:
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience (school plus work) in aviation maintenance.
+ Experience in developing and delivering aviation maintenance training programs.
+ Experience working in a Part 145 Repair Station environment preferred.
