Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee key financial operations and support the day-to-day accounting needs of our organization based in Petersburg, Virginia. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment within the industrial and mining sector, contributing to financial reporting, operational accounting, and cost management. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managerial accounting and financial analysis, ensuring the company's financial processes align with its operational goals.
Responsibilities:
• Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, conduct variance analysis, and support decision-making processes across departments.
• Oversee cost accounting functions, including tracking performance metrics, creating cost reports, and analyzing expenses.
• Coordinate month-end closing activities, including journal entries and bank statement reconciliations.
• Support external audits by preparing required documentation and collaborating with auditors.
• Assist with the depreciation of fixed assets and provide analysis and review of company assets.
• Extract and analyze data from ERP systems to generate financial reports and insights.
• Develop performance management reporting to monitor key financial indicators.
• Collaborate with operational teams to align financial processes with business objectives.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and improve financial workflows where necessary. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Proven experience in accounting management within mining, heavy industrial, construction, or manufacturing industries.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills, with the ability to extract and analyze data.
• Strong knowledge of managerial accounting, cost accounting, and financial reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare financial statements and conduct variance analysis.
• Familiarity with depreciation of fixed assets and asset management.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
