Description

We are looking for a skilled Cost Accountant to join our client's team in Las Vegas, Nevada. In this role, you will oversee and analyze manufacturing costs, inventory, and operational efficiencies to ensure accurate financial reporting and decision-making. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of cost accounting principles.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and evaluate standard costing processes, including periodic updates to labor and overhead rates and conducting cost roll-ups.

• Analyze and report on manufacturing variances, such as purchase price variances, labor costs, and overhead discrepancies.

• Reconcile inventory sub-ledger accounts with the general ledger and assess inventory reserves for accuracy.

• Assist in physical inventory counts and cycle count programs, investigating variances and preparing detailed reports.

• Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, and R& D teams to ensure product costing aligns with operational and project goals.

• Support month-end close activities by preparing journal entries related to inventory and cost adjustments.

• Develop gross margin reports and provide actionable insights to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.

• Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes with a focus on manufacturing expenses.

• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and relevant accounting standards.

• Participate in initiatives aimed at improving costing accuracy and streamlining accounting processes.

Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• At least 5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within a biotech, life sciences, or manufacturing setting.

• Proficiency in standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting principles.

• Familiarity with ERP systems such as Oracle, NetSuite, or similar platforms, along with advanced Excel capabilities.

• Strong knowledge of cost accounting standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

• Exceptional analytical and organizational skills with the ability to communicate findings effectively.

• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting related to manufacturing costs.

• Ability to work collaboratively across departments to achieve accurate costing and operational improvements.
